MEDITATION
When
I am Gone “When I am
gone, release me. Let me go. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with
tears. Be happy that we had so many beautiful years. I gave to you
my love; you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I
thank you for the love each of you has shown.
But now it’s time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if
grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only
for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won’t
be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch
me, I’ll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear
all my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile
and say “welcome home”!
Awareness
Experience
I now invite you to make yourself as comfortable as you can... sit back
into your chairs with your feet firmly on the ground...... and your
hands resting on your knees......... when you are comfortable... move
to an awareness of your breathing......... become aware of the air
as it passes through your nostrils......
do not control your breathing....... this is not an exercise in breathing
but in awareness.
Each time you are distracted return gently to your task. Feel the touch
of the air in your nostrils when you inhale... I invite you now to reflect
that the air you are breathing in and out is charged with the presence
of God..... Stay with this awareness.
The Hebrew word for God is Yah-weh ........it means breath........ Yah-weh..........
Yah-weh. It is the first word we said when we came into the world....
we said it with our own breath. As we breath in for the first time we
said Yah... as we breath out we said weh......Yah-weh.........
Yah-weh.
And Yah-weh is the last word we will say when we leave this world. So
I now invite you to say Yah with the in breath and Weh with the out breath........
Yah-weh ........ Yah-weh As you breath in be conscious of God's spirit
coming into you......... fill your lungs with the divine energy He brings
with Him. When you breath out imagine you are breathing out all your
fears..... your concerns..... your anxieties.... your negative feelings.
Stay with this awareness for a while as you pray Yah with the
in breath and weh with the out breath....... Yah-weh ...... Yahweh. Now I invite
you to express yourself to God ...... but I want you to do this no verbally
through your breathing Yah on the out breath Weh on the in breath .......
Yah-weh... Yahweh. Reflect that each breath is produced and sustained
by God's Almighty Power.
When you are ready open your eyes and come back to the room.
Catch the stillness you experienced and hold on to it....... and may
it stay with you in the days ahead as you pray in the word Yah-Weh as
you breath and out. Maybe it can become your mantra especially in times
of difficulty and stress.
Glory be to the Father..............................
