Welcome to Bet
hany Bereavement Support Group website

Who we are
We are a voluntary community and parish based service. Our objective is to support the bereaved through the grieving process and our services are totally free of charge and confidential within the law.
The name "Bethany" is derived from the story of Jesus' friends Martha & Mary who lived in a village called Bethany and grieved over the death of their brother Lazarus.

Our Mission Statement
To provide a voluntary community and parish based service, which aims to support bereaved adults through the grieving process.

The Grieving Journey
Grieving is a natural process and is normally helped by the support and understanding of family and friends. Sometimes a bereaved person may need the support of a skilled person to help them journey through their loss in a positive way. Strong feelings such as anger, guilt, fear and depression are quite normal but need to be expressed, cried over; and put into perspective.

How we can help
Bethany volunteers listen with understanding and empathy. They accept those suffering loss as they are; and will support the bereaved for as long as they need. For information on our services please go to the "About Us" link above or click here.

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person
in our lives means the most to us, we often find
that it is those who, instead of giving advice,
solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share
our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and
tender hand.”
